Midsummer Observance...
Tuesday, July 3, 2012
Last year we drove up to Budd Lake, NJ where there is a large Scandinavian population & celebrated Midsummer there... This year, we felt things had been too hectic with the recent move & all the work involved, so we stayed at home.
The weekend following Midsummer we celebrated it in our... own way. We stayed outside all day, ate our Swedish Breakfast, had lunch & a BBQ dinner all on our deck. Plus, ice cream & lot's of playing/running around & ended our day with a nice walk around the neighborhood. It was perfect & the weather could NOT have been better! It was just beautiful!
Swedish Pancakes with freshly cut strawberries & homemade vanilla whipping cream...
I can't remember the last time I made these (maybe it was back in FL?)
Even our little piglet devoured a whole one! :)
Preston has his Swedish Helsingborg soccer team shirt on...
Pancakes, strawberries, sugar, strawberry jam & vanilla whip cream...
Then Garrick made us some shish-kabobs for dinner...
Preston (of course!) helped too!
We bought a couple of those junky Popsicles from the Ice Cream man... Preston got Spider man & didn't like the taste of it, so he fed it to our little garbage disposal baby... I didn't let her have more than a couple licks - the stuff is potent!
Aubree got a Power Puffs one & it gave her endless amounts of energy....
So, we took a nice long walk through our 'hood'! :)
We have a funny neighbor with an impeccable (& also a bit crazy) yard, they have about 4 signs all over that say, "If your dog poops please leave your address, So my dog can poop in your yard"... Jersey people can be a different kind of breed!
